After Fair Events

Well, May 1st is almost upon us and many people have  along day rising early and listening to the choirs in Oxford, and if it is as pleasant a morning as it was with me today, then we shall be busy!

Yes, I was out early moving beehives from one field to another, easier access from now on.

Whilst out, I heard the Cuckoo again, having been here for a couple of weeks, I thought maybe now I should share a photo of something found at the fair a few years ago, and since then I have waxed it and occasionally use it, yes, a Cuckoo Call. Probably 19th Century, but could easily be 18th, or 20th for all that matters, I enjoy it, and one day, maybe I shall make a similar one to see if I can, shouldn’t be difficult as I now have a pattern to follow!

Pop along to Lechlade Antiques Fair on Sunday 1st May, then afterwards, why not stroll along the Thames, and keep ears and eyes open for a Cuckoo, there is one at Buscot lock, but they do have a tendency to move!

Here is the call. Regards, Andy.
