Wow! What a day!
OK, can’t deny it, I was worried, new venue, not enough stallholders to break even on the rent, public liability insurance, advertising and general running around trying to make it work, and leaflet drops! Why would anyone do this! Did I not know better by now, only 19 1/2 years of doing fairs, surely I knew better?
So, it went ahead, and yes, somewhere in my head told me it would look good, and enjoy it, Cousins coming down, Dad visiting, no pressure then!
Here is a photo of the fair, you may well have seen the preview of my stock there, and yes, I was pleased and proud of it, deservedly so I thought, but fashions being what they are, would anyone else like it or need it enough to buy?
Well, at ten minutes to ten, I went outside , and there were three dog walkers, a runner and a duck in sight from the Village Hall door! Mmmmm, the word worry springs to mind, so I went indoors, pinned a few photographs to a board, and then there was a queue of eight people wanting to get in! Not long after that we were engulfed by a couple of coachloads of tourists really enjoying browsing, and buying with a purpose I haven’t seen in years, and within minutes reports of “best day ever” were hitting me! Wow, not even 1130am! The pace did slow, but the end results were fabulous for all, and I thank everyone, stallholders and visitors that made me realise the work was well worth it!
Here is a photo of the hall when I had a break and it was quiet!
We are back in Bibury on November 6th! I have more stallholders booked, as some could not be with us today for reasons of birthday, Jazz festival, Beer festival, Theatre Lighting Commitments, and probably other reasons which elude me right now! I hope the next fairs can be half as good, then even I will have have a smile! Please introduce yourselves, I do like meeting people, and there were some fabulous people today, from The Netherlands, South Afrika, Australia, China, Japan, Germany, and closer to home, The Isle of White, Cornwall, Devon, Leicestershire, Lancashire, Yorkshire, Hampshire, and other places I just didn’t have the time to find out!
Look forward to seeing you there?
